SEI Intro to CMMI course

CMMI Aspirants - Read this letter from Wayne Littlefield:

Dear SPIN Coordinators,

 I presently have 5 openings left for a public offering of the SEI Intro to CMMI course being held in Loveland, Colorado this coming July 22nd, 23rd, and 24th.

I would be grateful if you would pass on the news to any members of your SPIN that you may know of that would be interested in taking the course in northern Colorado during these dates. UNM Professional Engineering Continuing Education Courses
The University of New Mexico’s School of Engineering, in partnership with the UNM Division of Continuing Education, is offering two short courses for engineering and technical professionals in April 2008! These courses are taught by well respected University of New Mexico School of Engineering professors and other experts, who will present practical theory and application. These courses are eligible for Certified Professional Engineering Units.

Fundamentals of Engineering Management
Course # and section: 70401 RQA
In this 3-day course, you will learn the skills and techniques to effectively manage technical personnel to meet project or program goals. Management of scientific and engineering work requires a mastery of both technical and people management skills. This course covers important management techniques that have proved useful in the supervision of technical personnel engaged in time and budget constrained programs and projects. These techniques are reviewed in interactive sessions with other participants and include summaries that lock in relevant points for each participant. Course materials are included.

Intermediate Engineering Management

This two-day course will introduce business principles and strategies critical to corporate management success. Engineering managers who have advanced to senior level positions such as Director, Vice President or Chief Technology Officer are expected to perform at a corporate conscious level. This expectation can best be fulfilled with additional training in how technology and its management can affect corporate decisions and strategies. This course, for senior-level technology managers, covers business principles in technology forecasting, product management, product marketing, inventory control, quality measures, competition and benchmarking that are critical in corporate strategic planning. These principles are reviewed in interactive sessions with other participants and include summaries that lock in relevant points for each participant. Course materials are included.
